How Hood Got Started

Hood was founded in 1992 as Hood Technical Consultants Ltd. based in Edmonton.  The company offered technical support to area plants.  The first project that Hood obtained was a small drafting project providing pipe fabrication drawings.  This client is still utilizing Hood’s services, 12 years later.

In 1998, Hood Engineering was created with an office based in Calgary.  Hood Engineering specialized in natural gas, gas liquids, and oil process systems.

Hood Environmental and Hood Construction Management were added in 2001 to form the basis and the Hood Group of Companies was born.

In 2007, Hood Group moved into the electrical contractor world when they acquired ICE, and Instrumentation, Controls and Electrical contractor.

In 2008, Hood Group acquired Geographic Dynamics Corp (GDC).  GDC are the leaders in bringing an ecological approach to forest management, oil and gas development, mining, reclamation, urban planning, and recreation development.

In the summer of 2009, Sixth Sense was born.  Sixth Sense supports the construction and industrial industries through providing staffing services.

Together, the Hood Group of Companies (Hood Technical, Hood Engineering, ICE, GDC and Sixth Sense) offer a varied expertise which allows the "Hood Group" to offer complete solutions to its clients.

Hood Group will continue to evolve but the one constant that will not vary is its forward direction to maintain & build its client relationships.  We have the experience, people and diversity of services to achieve this and we are committed to building a relationship with our clients that allows us to put these qualities to work for them.
